C2C CROCHET ART: STRIPE FROM GREMLINS

by Jess

A few months ago I started my most complex corner to corner design, it ended up being absolutely enormous!! I thought my tiger wall hanging was complicated but that was nothing compared to this!!

It was my partner, Matt, who suggested I do Stripe from Gremlins. So I got to work drawing up the graph chart for it, it took me an entire day to get the chart finished but that was nothing compared to how long it took to crochet it!

It took around 150 hours to complete, each row took the best part of an hour and there were 137 of them! I was using aran weight yarn too so the size was a lot bigger than it would have been if I’d have used DK. I used fluffy yarn for the mohican and love the effect it gave.

I attached it to a bamboo cane as it’s so large and heavy but it’s too big to go on the wall in our house really. I should have maybe stuck to DK weight yarn and used a mini C2C stitch too!

Here is a photo of it lying on our bed, which is a super king so that gives you an idea of the size!!

I’ve already drawn up my next big one too, I won’t tell you so it’s a surprise but it is a character out of another 80’s movie, they are just the best!!
